Robert Dowd PT, DPT, OCS, JSCCI
Robert is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Board Certified in Orthopedics by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He also holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Medicine with a certificate in Physical Therapy, a Masters of Healthcare Administration and was working on a Masters in Neurophysiology prior to transferring to his doctoral work.
Dr. Dowd took his first Counterstrain course with the Jones Institute in 1990 with Dr. Lawrence Jones, Randall Kusunose, and Dr. Wendorff. He assisted and has taught with every instructor with the Jones Institute and is a certified instructor for the Jones institute (JSCCI). He has contributed Counterstrain chapters in text books used in Physical Therapy and in Massage Therapy curriculums. He has dedicated his teaching to presenting Counterstrain the way that Dr. Jones entrusted his instructors to at his final course offering.
Dr. Dowd has been able to apply the philosophy of Counterstrain in the outpatient Orthopedic clinic, the acute care hospital, the ICU, the long term geriatrics/nursing home setting, and in Home Health and Hospice.
He currently owns a thriving private practice where he sees patients in their homes in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
When Dr. Dowd is not treating patients, writing, or teaching he can most likely be found outdoors fishing, hunting, or riding his motorcycle.
